Do We Trust Military, Gov’t Not to Spy on US?
That’s the heart of the AI fight with the Pentagon
Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump want AI tech handed over to them, carte blanche, to use as they please, no questions asked. But the real question is: do we trust the Government and Military not to spy on us?
The real question is: do we trust the Government and Military not to spy on us?
If we’re living our lives and not a threat, we’d all like to believe our rights will be upheld and protected. But at what point does that change? When someone believes they’re expressing their First Amendment rights, but the Government deems them a threat and they are no longer safe from being watched.
Say you decide to protest against ICE:
In Minnesota, federal agents showed up at the homes of more than a dozen protesters, letting them know they knew where they lived and that they were watching them.
What if you decide to help immigrants, regardless of their legal status:
A citizen in El Paso was arrested on Christmas Eve for caring for two undocumented children. She was charged with conspiracy to harbor.
Technology was used to watch, find and instill fear. Did these people do something wrong? That’s the essence of the fight with the Pentagon over which AI tech is picked.
The Administration refuses to agree that it won’t use AI to spy on us

From Feb. 26 Anthropic statement:
Anthropic isn’t yielding, and that’s angering Trump and his minions, who’ve turned to their typical name-calling.
From Trump’s Feb. 27 Truth Social post
Trump is insisting we need to trust him and his people. This from a vindictive leader demanding the entire world “respect my authority.” Yes, just like a cartoon character.
We’ve all witnessed the ramifications of these type of threats and actions throughout history, and most recently, in this country. Now they want the right to weaponize AI tech against us, insisting we trust them. Hell no!
