Taylor Swift nod: Dear Evernote ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’
Pissed about Evernote’s price increase? Me too. We broke up!
Inspired by Taylor Swift’s 2012 song ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’
Dear Evernote,
I thought we had such a good thing going. That we were forever. Why did you go get greedy and mess it all up? I’ve had enough.
You thought you sucked me in with your sticky ploys. That I’d never leave. Sure, I appreciate being able to use you on all my devices, having you on Windows and iOS. But you tell me I have to give up much of what I used to have just to keep the same price.
I have supported you since 2011. Clearly, Tech has gone and done me wrong.
You dumped me at Christmas, telling me I had a month to get out my stuff. Who does that? And that I needed to go find myself a new date for New Year’s? Really? Clearly!
I thought about leaving you in the past, each time you’d raise your price. But you’d tell me you were worth it. That you’d gone and changed. Gotten better.
I looked around. Even strayed a few times. But I kept coming back. You’d beg.
You know everything about me. It felt like you were holding all of my information hostage with your proprietary format that made you extra special. Insisting you did all of this because you loved me. That only you could keep me safe.
I gave you 10 years of my life. Sure there were good times, but now you tell me the price to stick around is to double-down on what I already pay.
I did the mature thing. I tried to talk. You responded with automated replies. Really? After all this time, a call is the least you can do. But you refused to talk. You won’t even tell me the difference between an “instance” and a “device,” yet you count both against me. Tell me, why?
Again, I try to talk to you. I’m asked for my credit card information from a payment I made a year ago. Now you want my Social Security Number, too?
I’m not feeling safe with you. It’s like I’m agreeing to have all my info sold on the dark web. You’d do that, too. Wouldn’t you?
