I'm staring at one of my two huge glass jars of matches right now. Remnants of the 80s/90s, I see long gone restaurants and a matchbook printed for my Grandmother's birthday party (don't know how old she was, it was adults only).
I still grab a matchbook if a restaurant offers one, but I don't go to the kinds of restaurants that feature them now.
This also made me just go get out our old can of Folger's Coffee -- to see what's in in. Random change and currency from other countries...(can't figure out how to share a photo!)
Dang it Rani -- now I'm thinking of all the reasons I want to get custom matches. For my son's wedding in two weeks -- oh man for sure I can justify that. There are going to be candles lining the table arrangements for just 20 guests! Whoohoo, a great excuse. I might also totally copy you and do matches I can leave behind to promote my novel next April. Love your writing and thanks for exposing me to new ideas!
I was in Bishop Arts recently at a swanky clothing store. Was I there for clothes? No! I wanted the custom matches that came in a miniature house. It was so cute and would have looked great on my fireplace mantle. Unfortunately, they were out. "Only at Christmas," the sales clerk told me. Lesson learned...buy more this Christmas.

I collected matchbooks for many years in old Folger's Coffee cans. Now I wish I would have saved them. Would be fun to put out.

I didn’t think of using them instead of cards. Great idea. I keep some, like having others out to use.
