Ok Rani, I'm guessing I'm that December birthday friend with the LEGOs. I did enjoy them. But honestly, I am usually where hobbies go to die. Just ask the ukulele, felting kit, and medicinal herbs book that sit untouched in my nice armoire that I literally bought to store all of my hobbies that I was going to start. 😆
I get this. Legos were such a staple item for me as a kid. Now, the sets they sell are amazing, but way too expensive for a kid to buy with money from a Kool-Aid stand, or from babysitting a few hours. These sets cost hundreds of dollars. And are meant to build very specific things that would be of no interest to a kid - like Notre Dame. So I get why adults are the big growth area.
Oh I understand this so well. I have quite a few LEGO sets waiting to be built. I think I justified those purchases by claiming my kids will get to build them someday.
I also just ordered the American Girl Doll Fisher Price Little People with the excuse that they're for my daughter, but let's be real: they're totally for me.
Oh yeah, that's not to mention the Kirsten American Girl doll I bought a few years ago (prior to having kids) because I didn't have her as a kid and was worried I'd miss my chance to buy, considering many of the historical characters were archived.
Of course, American Girl is smart and recently brought her back for purchase.

Yeah! Glad I’m not alone. We’ve got some Star Wars ship in LEGO. Book unopened. From who knows how many years. But not enough to be a collectors item.

I’ve since been informed I’m the source of bringing the Star Wars ship into the house. The horror. It may be getting listed on eBay!
Ooh you can make good money if it’s unopened! Or at the very least, find it a home where someone will put it together!
