An interesting reflection & in reference to the snowblower, I don't think it's about the size, it's what you do with it.

One thing, my pea brain read the title, "Three Keepers, One Reject: Chris Stanton", and thought it suggested that Chris Stanton is the reject. Surely not! 🤪

That’s funny. My brain reads everything like a 4th grade boy and goes dirty!

😂 Thank you for defending my snowblower, Ofi, as well as my honor!

It’s just not right to question the status of your manhood.

I'm coveting the Mad Men memorabilia! How cool! Also small so it wouldn't take up a lot of space and it wouldn't cost much for shipping.

I've only gone to in person auctions at estates. If it didn't fit in my car, it wasn't being bid on...although I bought a large oil painting that is still over our fireplace 30 years later. It barely fit in my car.

The car rule is genius. It should be obvious but it isn’t to me. I’m much more of a “it should fit” variety.

Lol!!

You’re inspiring all of us to leave the house — and go bid!

I too was underwhelmed by the snowblower. But that’s likely because I am clueless about life in the snow.

Rani Monson's avatar

YES! Not just me…thank you Allison.

Amy Benavides's avatar

I think that must be why you were underwhelmed, Allison and Rani. As a Northerner, I was impressed and a bit jealous. Luckily, we have a short driveway, but we do have 24 steps to our house.

THANK YOU! You get it, Amy. I can’t believe these snowless people are giving me ‘tude about my blower! 😂

Amy Benavides's avatar

I definitely get it! They’ve clearly never had to shovel after a real snow, especially not a long driveway or 24 stairs. 😂

I hope Chris sees this!

What a crock to win such a cool thing in an auction then be asked to spend half your retirement savings to ship it to you. I'm at the age where I'm desperately feeling the urge to get rid of things but the part of me that spent the first half of my adult years acquiring things is putting up a fierce battle. I am hoping over time the former will win out.

My dream is to build a tiny home for myself on my acre of land, and rent out the home I'm currently in that is way too big for me. That means getting rid of A LOT OF STUFF. Intellectually I'm up to the task. I'm waiting for my emotions to catch up.

Oh the struggle is real! My mother gave us a tour of her house recently to point out the “expensive” things. WTF? Just because she paid money for it doesn’t mean it’s of value to me.

BUT it’s so hard when it’s stuff you paid for and spent your money on and remember the dent…somewhere we got this falsehood that somehow we’d get some money back for it at a future point. I’ve yet to have this happen IRL. Tips on “how” welcome!

I do always feel good donating things to somewhere I care about and when I believe it will make a difference and help someone. Like at the women’s shelter.

Thanks for having me, Rani! I’m coveting your Batman pinball machine and may want to buy it from you.

Rani Monson's avatar

The shipping costs would be INSANE! Seriously it is so heavy. But I’m open to offers…

I had no idea there were auctions for video games and to be honest I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this new information!

Rani Monson's avatar

Go! It’s a crazy experience. In a good way. It’s like Dave & Buster’s and everything is for sale.

Welp. There goes my retirement fund.
